COURSE SUMMARY

The Practitioner program is designed to:

  • Refine the knowledge gained during the Foundation course
  • Provide additional syllabus areas important for change management practitioners
  • Prepare participants for the APMG Change Management Practitioner certification exam

APMG Change Management qualifications provide a pathway to Change Professional accreditation by the Change Management Institute and on passing one of the APMG Change Management exams, delegates receive 2-month complimentary membership to the Change Management Institute.

COURSE AIM

The Change Management Practitioner training aims to:

  • To further the training participant’s ability to appropriately apply their learnings on a given change initiative
  • Prepare participants for the 2.5 hour APMG Change Management Practitioner certification exam.

The Practitioner program includes additional learning syllabus areas. From these additional syllabus areas training participants will be able to:

  • Propose change ‘levers’ appropriate to build momentum and sustain change
  • Use learning principles to:
    • Guide identification of key learning needs; and
    • Support development of required competencies
  • Apply coaching and feedback models
  • Provide guidance on conflict management styles to aid with constructive management of conflicts
  • Make use of co-design concepts to support the aims of a change initiative

This program also provides guidance for approaching the practitioner certification exam.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Current or aspiring managers of organisational change, transition or transformation, and other key roles within a change initiative, including:

Sponsors of change, change managers, change project and programme managers, business change managers, operational line managers, staff in key change roles within a Project, Programme, Portfolio or Change Management Office (PMO/CMO) or supporting a portfolio of change or broader transformational change.

COURSE COMPOSITION

This change management training is a scenario-based program focusing on the application of key change management approaches and models, important for change planning, change implementation and managing change impacts.

The training includes review, revision and sample exam sessions aimed at refining each participant’s understanding of change management models and approaches and their application to a given change scenario.

  • Building Change momentum and tipping points
  • Competence and learning for change
    • Introduction to effective learning instruction
    • Learning needs and objectives
  • Coaching to support change
    • Active listening

  • Handling conflict in change
  • Facilitation for co-design.

COURSE PREREQUISITES

Passing the APMG Change Management Foundation exam is a prerequisite for completing the APMG Change Management Practitioner exam.

EXAM

The APMG Change Management Practitioner exam is an ‘objective’ style, 2.5 hour, 5 question, open book scenario based exam. Questions are presented in the following format:

  • Classical multiple choice
  • Multiple response
  • Matching
  • Assertion/Reason

The maximum score for the exam is 80 marks. A score of 40 or more marks is required to pass the exam and to attain the APMG Change Management Practitioner certification.

The APMG Change Management Practitioner exam is completed online following the training. A calendar of dates and times are available for training participants to select when to complete their exam.
